Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 4, 2026
Overview
Playback Speed Manager is a Chrome extension that controls video playback speed on YouTube and Udemy using keyboard shortcuts. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This extension collects no personal data whatsoever.
Data Collection
We do not collect any data. The extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information, browsing history, or usage data. No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry.
Local Storage
The extension stores your preferred playback speed settings (e.g., “2x on YouTube”) locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us or any third party.
Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions, each used solely for its core functionality:
- storage — Save your speed preferences locally
- activeTab — Communicate between the popup and the active tab
- Host permissions (youtube.com, udemy.com) — Inject the content script that controls video playback speed
Third-Party Services
The extension does not communicate with any external servers, APIs, or third-party services. All functionality runs entirely within your browser.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever update this privacy policy, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Since the extension collects no data, material changes are unlikely.
